"All you need is trust and a little bit of pixie dust!" - Peter Pan

Have you ever wondered how nature gets its glow - who gives light and colour as the seasons come and go? Do you remember when you were little and you too believed in fairies? Now is the time to let the magic come back to your home with the new animated Disney film: Tinker Bell. Available on DVD and Blue ray, it is a must for every little girl between 3 and 8 years old. A film with no witches or scary monsters that tries to teach the importance of being yourself.

Tinker Bell and her friends
Tinker Bell and her friends

The story:

The story is simple but it has plenty of humour and emotion to keep you and your children interested. It is also visually beautiful to watch.

Tinker Bell is in Pixie Hollow, a place where all the fairies have talents like story telling, cheese making, healing, fast flying and sewing, among many other talents like bringing the spring to the mainland. But Tinker Bell is not happy with her talent for tinkering or fixing things. She thinks that her talent to mend pots and kettles is not exciting enough or important despite being considered the best pots-and-pans fairy in Pixie Hollow. So she tries to change herself into someone more glamorous, but this creates one disaster after another. Thankfully, Tinker Bell has very good friends - Rosetta, a garden fairy and a beauty obsessed diva; Silvermist, a water fairy of East Asian appearance; Fawn a fairy with the ability to communicate with animals; and Iridessa, light-talent fairy of African appearance. It is these friends who help Tinker Bell understand that her own talent is important for who she is and that if she is true to herself, then magical things can happen.

Now I´m in trouble and it was all your fault Princessa :D - my daughter looked just when I was reading this hub and she saw the little Tinker Bell. Well, tomorrow I have to let her watch the Peter Pan dvd again. Now that she found out about this I will have no rest from her at least until I buy the Tinker Bell dvd :)

funride: I understand what you mean; I had the same with mine. She had seen a postcard advertising the film and I had no peace until we got it. At least there are not bad witches, which mean that there are no nightmares at bed time :)

BTW I love the Peter Pan dvd, we have the film with Jeremy Sumpter which we watch quite often... I do believe in fairies!

gwendy: That's right, you are never too old for Tinker Bell. Last summer I bougth myself two sets of lingerie with Tinker Bell patterns! LOL

I am lucky I have my children as an excuse to watch all these great Disney films ;-)

Great hub, yes Tinkerbell and Peter Pan are all time favourites, and no I am not smoking some good stuff, I love watching Disney.

I used to have another mother, as i always called her, who took me to see "Snow White" I think I was 4 or 5. Loved Disney since.

Just_Rodney : I understand what you mean, I DO love Disney films, they can be formulaic but they are full of magic. Me too, I still remember my first film "Cinderella" I went to watch it with one of my favourite aunts. Not long ago, I took my daugther to the cinema to watch it and it was just like seeing it for the firs time.

This was perfect timing. I was wondering what to get my littlest one for Christmas and this would fit the bill. She loves Tinkerbell.

Thanks. I'm going to order it right now.

RGraf : Honestly, it is a very cute film, both my children -the girl and the boy- enjoyed it very much.

Ok. I'll admit it... I did like it too :-)

Since some boys are Peter Pan's at heart, are we Tinkerbell's at heart?

Tinker Bell is one of my daughter's favorites. She's not too big on the villians in Peter Pan, they are too scary!

RGraf: I am ;)

johnr54: That is a good thing about Tinker Bell the film, there are not villains or witches, only lovely characters.

What a great idea for a hub! I love Peter Pan, and Tink! (I have Peter Pan, Peter Pan in Return to Neverland, AND Tinkerbell!) Also, my screen name on MySpace is "Shannon of Neverland! It was one of my favorites as a youngster, and my kids love them as well! Great Hub Princessa!

MamaDragonfly2677 : Thanks. I truly enjoyed the film as I am a Peter Pan's fan myself. The good thing about Tinker Bell the film is that there is not captain Hook to scare the very young ones.

Have you seen "Finding Neverland"? It is a very good film about James Barrie and how he conceived the idea for writing Peter Pan.

Yeah, I think Jadis the white witch of Narnia shook everyone up the most.. lol.. So, I can understand most parents being very happy with a movie without wicked villans for a change of pace...

But as for me, I'm in my 20's myself and I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. It really is cute and well thought out.. It really brings a neat perspective to lil' tinker bell and her friends.. I'm looking forward to the next one this Autumn.. i hope it's just as good as the first.. ~ jadis
