I know the request was for the 10 most beautiful women. But the temptation was too big and I gave in. As a Peruvian I am proud of my roots and wanted to show you how pretty Peruvian women have been and still are.
For practicalities, I have choosen four of the most representative Peruvian beauties worldwide:
• Miss world 2004: Maria Julia Mantilla Garcia
• Mrs. World 1988 Lucila Boggiano
• Miss Universe 1957: Gladys Zender Urbina,
• Miss World 1967: Madeleine Hartog-Bell
Maria Julia Mantilla, Miss World 2004
Maria Julia Mantilla was born in Trujillo, a city on the north coast of Peru.
At the time, she was studying to become a High School Teacher, but also planned to start a second career in Tourism in order to help promote all the interesting places of her hometown, which has the biggest archaeological monument on the coast of Peru, CHANCHAN, a city made of sand.
MISS WORLD 2004 - MISS PERU MARIA JULIA MANTILLA
Gladys Zender, Miss Universe 1957
In 1957, Gladys Zender Urbina, was elected Miss Universe 1957. She was the first Latin American woman to win the Miss Universe contest.
Madeleine Hartog-Bell, Miss World 1967
A lady of languages, Madeleine Hartog Bell, talked her way to success as a medical-legal interpreter for companies in the USA. After becoming Miss World 1967
Lucila Boggiano, Mrs. World 1988
Lucila Boggiano, won the tittle of Mrs. World An international beauty contest organized annually for married women. It is originally based on the Mrs. America beauty pageant. Arranged on lines similar to other beauty pageants, it also lays stress on women's opinion on marriage. It has been organized since 1985.

I've been to Peru and the women you show certaintly do not represent the mayority of the population, whom are dark and stubby for the most part. You show women of European descence who were given a chance to become famous precisely because they look white, which only but reflects the deep racism that plagues Latin America...My husband is from Venezuela and it is the same there, the people "in power" (politicians, people in the media, etc...) are overwhelmingly white when only 10-20% of the population is, with an even lower percentage in Peru.

Still I do not agree that the majority of Peruvian women ARE dark and stubby, certainly I do not think myself of one and I do not think my Peruvian friends to be like that neither. Not all Peruvians look like Mama Ocllo or any native Inca, that is only one part of the population which I would dare say is not the majority any longer.
In Peru as in most of South America there is a big European influence. At school, from 30 or so students we had only about two or three students with native surnames; and the same at university. All I can say is that we Peruvians are a mixture of races you can find all sort of racial influences in Peru.

I am from Peru too and I am very pretty. And many people ask me where do I come from. I have been traveling around the world and the majority of the women are fats and uglies. They don't looks beautiful.

You clearly have not been exposed to the majority of the population if you assume that Peruvian women are all dark, short and stubby. It is either that or you have been watching too much Laura in America which unfortunately does not do us Peruvians any justice and creates ridiculous ideas about Peru. I am 5'7, 123lbs and tanned so I am certainly not short, nor stubby, nor very dark. I also used to model and I don't necessarily look like a "white" girl. Princessa's comment in regards to Peruvians look is very true. We have an assortment of looks from dark to light, short to tall and thin to not so thin. It also varies based on the region or area in which you are, for example, the Uros who are in Puno and live on floating islands are usually dark and stubby simply because of the weather and their lifestyle but that does not mean that the rest of the population looks like that. We are fortunate to have influences from Europe, Asia, Africa and therefore we come in all colors, looks and sizes. It is unfortunate that people have a tendency to make uneducated comments prior to doing the proper research. Light or dark we are all beautiful in our own right so simply because someone has a European last name does not automatically make them beautiful. There are natives who are absolutely gorgeous and exotic who have nothing to envy from anyone else.

im so proud after reading this! i live in sweden but im born in Peru. I love my country as you do, i moved to sweden when i was 10 years old. You should be so proud because Peru is a beautiful country full of treasures, gorgeous ppeople and perfect food! viva el peru carajo!

I am from Peru too. I am sorry to say but most of peruvian population is dark. You can go to Miraflores San Isidro...or the best neighborhoods in Peru and you will find some , yes some white people which coud be only the 10 percent of the whole population. I am sorry for the peruvian who wrote here that there is a lot white people. It is not true. I can corfirm this all the time that I go back to Peru. sorry girls but is's the true or you can also look for the statistics of etnichs in Peru
Gabriela: As requested, I looked at the statistic just to make sure that my eyes were not lying to me. According to the latest data (february 2010) noted by the CIA World Factboted, in Peru the Ethnic groups are divided in:
Amerindian 45%,
mestizo (mixed Amerindian and white) 37%,
white 15%,
black, Japanese, Chinese, and other 3%

You got it only 15 % is white, couting the males,children and old peolple :). Anyway the problem is not being dark but how you really feel inside. Beauty it is not only having blue/green eyes it is beyond that.
All this women shown in this website they are all beautiful but any peruvian woman can be beutiful despite the color of eyes or skin.
