The idea is to look your best on your special day, to be unique and remembered for years to come for how beautiful and unique you looked on your wedding day.
An option to follow if you are after a unique wedding gown is to buy a vintage wedding dress. Vintage clothing has become very fashionable in the past few years and one of the great advantages of buying vintage clothing is that you can choose an era that suits and complements your body shape, enhancing all your best attributes.
One of my favourite fashion eras is the 50s, not only for the richness of its designs but also because it is the fashion era that best dressed the hour-glass shaped woman. Unlike other fashion eras, the 50s emphasized a woman’s curves in a very elegant way. The fifties were a very smart era; women were well groomed and tailored to look like their favourite Hollywood stars. Feminine dresses were a must and the “lady-like” look was generalized. There was a wide choice between full skirts, A-line and pencil skirt cuts; all of them enhancing a woman’s curves.

These dresses are gorgeous and I think they really flatter 'the fuller figure' to which I'm heading at a frightening speed! No intention of getting married but if I was, these would definately be first choice.

They had some great sytles back then. Problem will be to convince the current brides to consider them. Most have to have the "latest" style.
This was great. 50's syle is not really my thing. I love the Edwardian era. My wedding dress was made in 1905... Had to have it completely restored but it was well worth it.

Although simpler, clothes in the fifties had more class than nowadays and are those I definitely love! I enjoyed looking at those superb 50s styled wedding dresses and, whenever I had to get married, I'd surely would choose one like these - in another color, of course since I've always stated that I want to get married with actual wedding dress color: anything BUT white ;)

This vintage dress collection are awesome! From the most vintage type to the modern one! Actually, I'm looking for wedding dresses, not for me but for Mom. We're planning for a wedding anniversary celebration for them that's why. I think she will love it more if she'll wear the same dress she used to wear on her wedding day 25 years ago. Is it possible if I do some tailoring and changes on the dress? I mean, I need some advice to make it a modern vintage style of dress. I am just hoping you got some idea on vintage wedding dress. Christian Dior DEFINED this look in the 50s - always loved it. So flattering, looks good on most bodies. I've made several wedding dresses in my life, so much work goes into these lovely gems, I had to give it up because I had no time for my family in the months before 'wedding season'.
